Draíocht Art Gallery proudly hosts the first Open Air Painting Competition in Adare.
Set in the picturesque village of Adare, this competition gives you the opportunity to sit and paint among it’s old world historical charms beside the beautiful River Maigue. For many years artists flock here to capture its scenic beauty in paint, but this time to compete.
Draíocht, Adare’s premier contemporary Art Gallery is delighted to organise a Plein Air competition that boasts fantastic prizes and the opportunity to meet, talk and paint with fellow artists. Prize winning artists will have their work displayed in Draíocht throughout September.
Application Process and Fees.
Entries accepted from August 1st-26th inclusive. Late entries will be accommodated at registration if space still available.
Competition numbers are strictly limited, so apply early. Early applicants fee €25 secures entry. Applicants later than Sunday August 20th pay €30. All entry fees are non-refundable. Entries may be posted on line or delivered in person to Draíocht, Station Rd., Adare.

Early registration on the eve of competition can be facilitated for the early morning painting enthusiast.
This years entry fee nominated charity – St Gabriel’s Regional Respite Center , Limerick.
Exhibited work on the easel at the end of the competition is available to the public to purchase.
Application fee is non-refundable and the event will take place rain or shine.
Competition is organised by Draíocht Adare. The event welcomes all levels and abilities. Competitors must be aged 18 years. Sponsored prizes in excess of €1000 will be presented in six categories. The three judges’ decision is final and not open to appeal.

Calendar Dates and Event Times:
Friday August 25th
Wine Reception hosted by Lady Ana Dunraven.
Saturday August 26th
- Saturday Registration opens 9 am and pre-stamping of supports and random allocation of paint points.
- Henry Morgan address.
- 10:15 am – 3pm Paint.
- Competitors are requested to be at their easels from 12:30 to 2 pm for preliminary judging.
- 3-3.30 pm Return tagged paintings to Draíocht for final decision.
- 4:30 pm Presentation of Prizes.
